Free Games for July 2020

With July upon us you may be asking yourself, what free games will I be able to get my mitts on this month?

Are you interested in Xbox, PS4 or PC? Have no fear, my friend, I have you covered.

Xbox - Games with Gold

This month for both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 as part of Games with Gold you will be able to download…

  • WRC 8 FIA World Rally Championship | Available for Xbox One between 1st July and 31st July

Brought to us by the French developer Kylotonn, and released in 2019, WRC 8 FIA is the official racing simulator for the most challenging racing competition in the world.

  • Saints Row 2 | Available for Xbox One and the Xbox 360 between 1st July and 15th July

Please note that this is the 360 version of the game and not the recently released HD remastered.

Initially released in 2008 as an over the top and whacky competitor to GTA, Saints Row is a Volition and THQ crime simulator that has a little bit of something for everyone.

  • Dunk Lords | Available on Xbox One between 16th July and 15th August

Released in 2018 to mostly positive reviews, Dunk Lords allows us to take to the courts and take part in a two-on-two basketball beat ’em up (yes, it turns out this is actually a thing).

  • Juju | Available for Xbox One and the Xbox 360 between 16th July and 31st July

Released in 2014, Juju is a platformer that has been described as ‘downright fun to play.’ Will you take up the cause as one of the two bear heroes and set off on a daring adventure to rescue a kidnapped elderly bear?

For full transparency, I should mention that when looking at Juju, it does appear to have a ⅗ rating with quite a few negative reviews.

All of the games are included as part of this month’s Games with Gold. And can be downloaded by anyone with an active Xbox Gold (or higher) subscription.

PlayStation - PS Plus

This month for the PlayStation 4 as part of PS Plus you will be able to download…

  • Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20th Anniversary Edition

Released in 2015 and securing many high ratings and much praise from critics, Rise of the Tomb Raider carries on directly from the 2013 reboot and sees Lara on another daring quest in search of the legendary city of Kitezh.

  • NBA 2K20

Released in 2019 to mixed reviews, NBA 2K20 is the latest entry into the basketball simulation series by the 2K Games and 2K Sports publishers.

  • Erica

Released in 2019, Erica is said to have a gripping story as you play a young woman plagued with nightmares of your father’s murder. After the unearthing of new grisly clues, only Erica can overcome her previous childhood traumas and explore (and hopefully solve) her father’s murder.

All of the games are available from the 7th July (next Tuesday) through to the 3rd August and can be downloaded by anyone with an active PS Plus subscription.

In addition to the Xbox and PlayStation games, this month, the Epic store will be giving away...

  • Conan Exiles

Released in 2018, Conan Exiles is an open-world game that allows you to live and flourish in the ancient world after being rescued by Conan on the edge of the Exiled Lands. A sparse and unforgiving desert landscape full of enemy NPCs, monsters and gods.

  • Hue

With a unique blend of colour manipulation. Light manipulation. And platforming. Work your way through this award-winning 2016 release and help our protagonist reunite with his missing mother.

Both will be available to download for free between the 2nd and 9th July. With more free games yet to be announced for the rest of the month.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this far. Hopefully, you will be able to find a title or two to play. If not, check back shortly to see what the free games for August will be!
