Free Games For June 2020

Like many of us, I am an avid gamer and love to expand my collection wherever possible, on that note I thought it would be a great idea to start sharing what games will be free on which platforms going forward. With both main consoles (PlayStation and Xbox) having dedicated programs that bring you free games each month, as part of your subscriptions to access their online content.

Primarily focusing around consoles, please see below for the games you can expect to be getting in June 2020 off of Xbox's Games with Gold and PlayStation's PS Plus.

PlayStation - PS Plus

Available to add to your library and download now through to June 30th is Call of Duty: WWII.

Released in 2017, Call of Duty: WWII is a first-person shooter set within the second world war that will have you take control of a member of the 01st Infantry Division during their battles on the Western Front around the time of Operation Overlord.

In addition to the campaign is the return of the zombie mode and the usual multiplayer modes you may have come to expect from the COD franchise.

For the second game, unlike COD: WWII, Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be eligible for download as of June 02nd through to June 30th.

Although launched under a cloud of loot box accusations and fan fury in 2017, Battlefront 2 is the latest entry into the Star Wars first-person shooters and is a fantastic mix of modes. Whether it be piloting TIE fighters, fighting Jedi, hunting Ewoks in multiplayer or taking part in the single-player campaign.

The single-player campaign to Battlefront 2 follows the adventures of Iden Versio, commander of an Imperial Special Forces group called Inferno Squad as they seek to crush the Rebellion. For those who are interested, the campaign takes place between the Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens story arcs.

If you are interested in the PlayStation PS Plus program and have not done so already, you can check it out here.

Xbox - Games with Gold

Xbox 360 and Xbox One

Available between June 01st through to June 15th is the original Destroy All Humans.

Initially released in 2005 and due for a remastered version in 2020. Destroy All Humans follows the adventures of Crypto (aka Cryptosporidium 137) who arrives on Earth in 1953 America to scope out the locals and harvest human DNA. Using not only his flying saucer but a vast array of weaponry and uncanny abilities such as psychokinetic and the ability to copy a human to disguise himself as his prey - anything is possible and creative abductions are highly encouraged.

Available June 16th through to June 30th is Sine Mora.

Released in 2012, Sine Mora is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up that allows players to take control of an aeroplane to take on waves of attacking enemies as you progress through various levels.

Xbox One

Available June 01st through to June 30th is Shantae and the Pirate's Curse.

First coming to the Xbox One console in 2016, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is a platformer that follows Shantae as she does battle with the Ammo Baron for Scuffle Town. However, things take a nosedive when her nemesis Risky Boots enters the fray. Shantae's only way to free the people of Scuffle Town and Scuffle Town itself, from the Ammo Baron is for her to fully regain her magical powers which she had lost at the end of a previous game (entitled Risky's Revenge).

Available June 16th through to July 15th is Coffee Talk.

Initially released in January 2020, Coffee Talk focuses around serving people drinks (crafted from items from your inventory) as you listen to their problems and try to help them through various dilemmas while getting immersed within their stories.

If you are interested in the Xbox Games with Gold program and have not done so already, you can check it out here.

As not to miss out the PC gamers amongst us, although there are often free PC games frequently going on many a website, the Epic store will be giving away two gems which may pique your interest.

Available May 28th through to June 04th will be Borderlands: The Handsome Jack Collection.

Comprised of the definitive editions of both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, take part in the historical rise of the Pandora legend Handsome Jack and see the very history of Pandora unfold.

If you have not heard of Borderlands before, Borderlands is a first-person shooter series with a fantastic visual style and unique dark sense of humour that heavily relies on both RPG elements and customizable loadouts.

Available June 04th through to June 11th is yet to be officially confirmed but is rumoured to be Ark: Survival Evolved. However, due to the lack of official confirmation at the moment, I won't jump into an overview.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this far. Hopefully, you will be able to find a title or two to play. If not, check back shortly to see what the free games for July will be!
